Jeju Olle Trail Route 3@100km, Part 1 of 3

#Route3A #Plantations #SeaBirds #MoreCafes

Route 3A is a 20.9km route. It has a good mix of forest, plantations, coastal views and wild lives. We started off by the coast where we found the start stamp of the route. The start point was just walking distance from our accommodation. Hence it was a rather easy start.

#StartByTheCoast #Tangerines #greens

Very soon the route led us inland towards plantations as well as great wide open with unspoiled nature and  greens.

Tangerine is the symbol of Jeju, is a real understatement. We visited the island in mid Nov, autumn season. That was the start of tangerine picking season ( Nov to February ). We were greeted with these fruits almost everywhere we trekked. Trees with bright orange lanterns everywhere. They not only looked beautiful, they smelled heavenly too. Very therapeutic.

Found some tangerines being housed in large green houses and well protected. We wondered if these were organic ( hence need to be protected from pests) or just a more dedicated cultivar. The green houses were all very well constructed and rather impressive too.

#RadishFields

Radish plantations were everywhere too. That really reminded me of their yummy radish kimchi!

#ForestBaths #NatureAtItsBest

Unspoiled nature greeted us along the way as we trekked inland.

After the mid point stamp station, we started to see lots of cafes. The trail then turned towards the coastal area once again.

#MoreCafes #Cute #ByTheCliff

We took a break at a beautiful cafe along the coast overlooking the cliff. Simply loved it.

This photo was taken just outside the cafe. Many locals just picnic along the coast by the cliff. We ran into a very friendly local trekker who offered us tangerines and we just ate them by the cliff while chatting with him ( using google translate! ), a real unforgettable experience. We are so blessed to chanced on wonderful people once again.

#WildLives #Egret #Heron

Trekked along and we were greeted by many wild birds. We did not have binoculars with us. With our best zoom using phones, our best guess was they are Egret and grey herons.

Very soon the route end stamp station greeted us. This concluded our route 3A.

Attached the 3A route pin, start and end point (CW) on Kakao map that we used. We found them essential for managing the trek, hence attached here. Use at own risk. Please do your own study before the trek.

#WrappedUp #TimeToFeast

From there, we boarded a bus and travelled back to our accommodation, collected our bags and took a taxi to our next accommodation. Checked in, washed up and wrapped up our day.

Love the second place we stayed too. Clean, spacious and near to all the eateries. We communicated using google translate. The host is very friendly despite the language barrier, be patient and do a bit of guessing, all will work out.

As usual, was time to feast again. There were whole row of eateries nearby. We just headed toward the area around the nearest convenient store ( ICU) and we were spoiled for choice.

This evening, we decided to try Jokbal, korean pork trotter. ( all Korean menu as usual, use your translator please). The steam egg looked so good and we ordered one to go with it. As usual, we truly enjoyed our food. Great way to end the day!
